How do you ask, are my Transformers artworks so accurate?
Through dedication and years of watching the Generation 1 series.
I only draw them from the face up because I am not yet comfortable in my abilities to progress to a complete body picture.
Granted, some really early pieces are terrible, but we learn from our mistakes.
I know some folks feel that I trace it right from the screen, or that somehow I have access to the original animation cells.
The majority of the pieces are a reference to the original series.
So I'll run through it step by step:
1. Using pencil and paper,
I draw a semi accurate Transformers face, often based from the cartoon itself, as it is the best possible reference, just marking in the different contours of whomever it might be. (Megatron had a lot of angles on his face alone)
2. Drawing over the pencil in pen, and define various parts I want to shadow.
3. With the pen drawing complete, I then scan in the piece, ready to be drawn coloured on all things... MS Paint! I then discard most of the paper drawings, but some can be found in my Scraps on my profile.
4. With the piece finished, I am ready to upload it to Deviantart.
I keep the piece saved, as I may recolor it, based on the different versions of the character. ie, Galvatron has may different colour versions.
